Scholarship Application

 

           The GFWC Woman’s Club of Tallahassee, Inc. recognizes that education is essential in helping individuals to become economically self sufficient. Therefore, two $500 scholarships have been established to assist women over the age of thirty who desire to continue their education in a college setting.

 

Requirements for applicants:

• Thirty years of age or older, currently enrolled as a student or applying for admission at one of these schools as an on campus student (undergraduate or post-graduate student).

Tallahassee Community College            Florida A & M University

Flagler College                                     Keiser University

Barry University                                   Lively Technical Center

Florida State University

• High school graduate and resident of Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson or Gadsden Counties.
• Three letters of recommendation from non-family members.
• A written two hundred word essay stating financial need, anticipated use of funds, and academic and career goals.

 

The student must enroll during the summer or fall term 2008 and must maintain a “C” average. 

 

Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the Woman’s Club and finalists will be interviewed after the initial selection process is completed.

 

The selected applicants will be requested to give a written progress report to the Woman’s Club in January 2008 and a verbal report at the May 2008 luncheon meeting.

 

The deadline for receipt of application is April 1, 2008.
